Learn Science
How might we enhance GenZ’s scientific literacy by making science relevant?
̌
Throughout the experience, the learner engages in a light, texting-like conversation with Tesla about how science works.
Nikola Tesla was a futurist who changed the course of history. He was a good character choice for this because he was known to have an outsized, quirky personality. Having a central character facilitate the course allowed for storytelling and narratives.
The audience for this course is Gen Z. Specifically, college students with non-science majors who attend state colleges.
When ideating on how learning science online could be fun and approachable, mimicking texting and upvote/downvote like interactions rose to the top.
This design choice forced me to simplify concepts in a way I hadn’t before; I knew no one would enjoy receiving a text-message of hard to read, verbose science facts.
One guiding principle for this project was learning-by-doing. The learner interacts with infographics and creates visual representations of their thoughts about science.
Tesla introduces the learner to some of his "friends" (semi-fictitious characters) who challenge the learners thinking via feedback and conversation.
